Job Summary
Manages the KAUST Gifted Student Program (KGSP) scholarship as well as other scholarships, awards, and support programs for outstanding Saudi students in their undergraduate study, prior to enrollment at KAUST.
By engaging and preparing these talented Saudi students to compete equally with top international applicants to KAUST’s advanced degree programs, this role directly supports implementation of Saudi Initiatives’ mission to develop the next generation of Saudi scientists and researchers, creating a knowledge economy for the future.
 
Major ResponsibilitiesLiaise with leadership at the King Abdul-Aziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Maw Hiba), KAUST’s top partner for in-Kingdom student nominations for scholarships and academic programs
Manage student enrichment programs that facilitate smooth student transition to KAUST
Working with KAUST academic leadership, oversee the coordination and development of events, workshops, and year-round enrichment activities for students at KAUST and in their undergraduate institutions abroad Manage and provide insight to enhance preparatory year programs providing support to students through exams, enrichment, application guidance, and undergraduate university selection
Manage and shape programs, policies, procedures, and initiatives related to student concerns including retention; sponsorship and registration with the Saudi Arabian Cultural Mission (SACM) and the Saudi Arabian Cultural Bureau (SACB); logistics, insurance, and housing; and personal and academic development
Provide guidance and manage other student scholarships and awards programs as proposed by KAUST leadership
Manage, evaluate and create development and preparatory programs tailored for students prior to
graduation at KAUST
Oversee and guide a team of in-Kingdom and US-based staff and consultants including academic advisors Provide management and oversight of KGSP administration, including operational matters related to contracts, finances, and internal and external partnerships
Ensure highest quality student relations by managing and enhancing delivery of services including advising, finances, enrichment and development planning, and university relations
Establish new and manage existing relations with key private and government institutions
Develop KAUST partnerships with the goal of building deeper relationships with key external stakeholders in science education local, regional, national, and international scale

Work with Communications department to guide branding and visibility of programs; drive strategic vision related to content and direction of communications materials and outreach
Lead achievement of program objectives through management and guidance of supervised staff, including setting individual objectives, managing performance, recruiting exceptional staff as needed, and developing and motivating staff
Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; maintaining a safe, secure, and legal work environment; develops personal growth opportunities
Accomplishes staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; developing, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standards.

Required EducationMaster’s degree in Education, International Education, or related field
 
Required ExperienceMinimum 10 years’ experience in a similar role
